Catching our breath

Well, Samantha Sue is almost 7 weeks old now. "Momma and Daddy" are finally catching their breath. Returning to the outside world. Unpacking our hospital bags. (what?) And starting a blog to keep family and friends, near and far, updated about Sami and other goings-on in our life. (which would imply there actually are any other "goings-on" these days).

And now for an obligatory baby picture:

This gem was taken yesterday. We take a lot of pictures (what new parent doesn't?!), and especially now that Josh has his new toy (a professional Nikon camera with various lenses), I have a feeling that there will be more and more and more pictures to come.
But I'll just keep using my crude point-and-shoot camera, thankyouverymuch.

Sunday night we took Samantha to her very first concert. It was Chris Issac at the ever-lovely Meadow Brook Music Hall. Our friends Beth and Rolanda joined us. It was a perfect evening for an outdoor concert, and for as nervous as we both were, the event went off without a hitch. She basically nursed and slept the whole time. But she did also have some happy alert time too.
Here we are at the concert... yes that's her underneath the nursing cover (appropriately named the Hooter Hider, its the white piece of cloth draped over me that looks like an apron). And yes, I actually brought a Boppy pillow with me.

And here's Daddy with Sami at the end of the night.
